I browsed on Instagram and saw picture after picture of what appeared to be fruity pebbles in rice krispy treat form. Whhhhaaaat? How fun and smart is that ?! Our kids had completely asked once if we could make rice krispies with fruity pebbles, and I had completely forgotten that.
However, I noticed something quite important through my search, it seemed to be a baking challenge that people were writing about and no one shared a recipe. Some krispie treats looked flat and dry, while others looked a fun orange color. I immediately started testing and discovered that there are actually two things that make a perfect rice krispie treat …
- Do not use only fruity pebbles. The sumptuous taste of the fruity pebbles was too much, so we started throwing some plain rice krispies grains in to add balance.
- Forget all the recipes and stick to our sticky rice krispie treats recipe. It has a more buttery, sticky marshmallow goodness, and the hint of salt and vanilla is essential for the overly sweet fruits.
Necessary Ingredients for Fruity Pebbles Rice Krispie Treats
Put on your fat pants and get ready for the most sticky, buttery delicious rice krispie treats that have gone wild! The kids go crazy after them and I can not keep my hands off them either! Here’s what you need:
- Mini marshmallows (as fresh as possible)
- Rice Krispies corn
- Fruity pebble grains
- Marshmallow Fnug
- Sea salt

How to make fruity pebbles Rice Krispie treats
This recipe will make a 9 × 9 inch pan, or can be doubled to a 9 × 13 inch pan. Spray the pan with non-stick cooking spray. Use foil or baking paper to make a sling to lift the treats out when they have cooled. You can use the stove method or the microwave method to make these treats.
Add butter, marshmallow fluff, salt and 8 cups mini marshmallows in a large saucepan over medium heat and melt everything until smooth.
PRO TIP: Do not turn up the heat over medium! It will heat the marshmallows and begin to convert the sugar in the marshmallows into candy, which means that when they cool, they become hard. No thanks!
Add butter, marshmallow fluff, salt and 8 cups mini marshmallows in a large microwave-safe bowl and microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until everything is completely smooth and melted.
Add the vanilla to the melted marshmallows and stir it in. Add rice krispies and fruity pebbles to the bowl (or pan) and mix it all well together. This is where you add the rest of the marshmallows.
Pour the entire mixture into your pan and press it down.
PRO TIP: Use a spoon or spatula brushed with butter or sprayed with cooking spray to gently press the sticky mixture into the pan. Do not knock it down! You want the bars to be easy to bite and chew when cooled.
Allow to cool to room temperature before cutting and serving. I love using this scraper to cut them into rods.
Variations on fruity pebble treats
Do not limit yourself to only Fruity Pebbles! You can completely swap them out with your favorite Flintstone grain products! The cocoa stone would be delicious! You can even add some mini chocolate chips to make them extra chocolate! I have tried these with Cinnamon Pebbles and YOWZA! It’s goooooood! Add a little splash of cinnamon to the marshmallows … yep!
And I have not tried Peanut Butter & Cocoa Pebbles yet, but PB and chocolate together are always the right thing! If you have not tried our scotcheroos or Reese’s rice krispies treats, they are both a must!
Are fruity pebbles gluten free?
Fruity pebbles are gluten free! So all our gluten free friends can totally indulge in this one! If you replace the butter with coconut oil, then this may be it milk free also!
How to Store Rice Krispie Treats
Rice Krispie treats can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 6 weeks.

Let’s just say it’s been a long day with a lot of whining and complaining from some young people in your life and they’re finally in bed and you need a treat. You can make this Fruity Pebbles treat for one! Follow the instructions on our rice krispie treat in a mug and divide the cereal products into half … half rice krispies and half fruity P’s.

- 5 Tableware Butter
- 1/4 teaspoonful Vanilla extract
- 10 Copper Mini marshmallows divided
- 2 Copper Rice Krispies corn
- 4 Copper Fruity pebble grains
- 1/3 cup Marshmallow Fnug
- 1/2 teaspoonful Sea salt fine grain
Spray a 9 × 9-inch pan with non-stick spray and line it with a foil or parchment paper sling. Spray again.
Place butter, salt and 8 cups of mini marshmallows in a very large microwave safe bowl or in a saucepan over medium heat. Microwave at intervals of 30 seconds, or heat, stirring occasionally, until everything is completely melted and smooth.
Add vanilla and marshmallow fluff and stir again.
Pour in rice krispies and fruity pebbles and mix well.
Add the remaining marshmallows while still hot and press lightly into your cooked pan. *
- * Using a spoon with a little butter on it will help you push rice krispies down into the pan without it sticking all over your hands.
